You have found my website – the chances are you are here because you have some questions. Whatever they may be, it’s probably taken a lot of courage to get this far; for many people, recognising that help is needed is one of the most difficult steps.
Unfortunately, there is still a lot of nervousness surrounding the idea of ‘counselling’, and many people are unsure as to what exactly goes on behind closed doors. Appreciating this, one of the principles I hold most dear is that counselling should be a positive experience unique to them.
Counselling is a shared process and we will need to work together to build up the strength and understanding required to face any challenges. I hope that by having a look around this site, you will learn a bit more about me and how I work.
I was keen to go on to give others the benefit and support of my knowledge and experience both personally and as a counsellor. Over the years I have had the privilege of working with some wonderful people and their families, each and every one unique, whilst I have been able to support them through their journeys. I too have learnt from them. My clients have said that they find my practical and down-to-earth approach really refreshing. I have been compared to the therapist in the film The Kings Speech many a time! His methods are alternative – but they get results.
I have worked with many different issues including but certainly not limited to:
- Eating Disorders
- Teenage Anxiety
- Depression
- Stress Management
- Life Coaching
- Family Support
- OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)
*N.B. I am classed as an alternative therapist, I am not medically qualified.
There is nothing intimidating about where we will be meeting; it is in fact more of a family home than a clinic! Sessions are spent in a relaxed, informal room, full of hope and cups of tea. You will definitely never see a clipboard or a questionnaire; instead, there are pictures on the walls and interactive crafts and games for the younger ones. After all, this is a positive experience, and I always strive for my clients to leave feeling happier and stronger than they did when they arrived!

I am a qualified Hypnotherapist, TFT and NLP Practitioner, with a mixture of all three I cover a wide range of problems including phobias, weight loss, smoking, stress reduction and deep relaxation. We are born with a fear of two things falling and loud noises – the rest we pick up one way or another during our lives, I believe that if you weren’t born with it I can show you how to get rid of it.
Neil Long amongst other things is an NLP practitioner, and will use it shamelessly to help people to improve their well being, and overcome vexatious problems in their lives!
I look forward to hearing from you!
